University is  a high level educational institution in which students study for degrees or it is a place where academic research is done. Here a lot of people come out with different innovative ideas. Everyone wants himself/herself to be identified by everyone or known to everyone. This means everybody needs a unique identity. For this we need to be different from others and our ideas should be greater than others’. Being XTREME is the only way to get identified by each and every person. Being XTREME in the sense following the success mantras and strategies which no one else does with a grit and determination to win the whole world. Here are a few tips to achieve success at University by implementing which you can win millions of hearts.

1. Find a suitable Location

The first and the fore most thing to be done for your success at university is to be serious about getting work done. Find a good location. I suggest to go with the libraries, study rooms, or empty classrooms where you can have a peaceful mind and you can come out with great innovative ideas if you are really serious about your future.

2. Make It a Habit to do Coursework Every Day

This tip is very important for most of the students who usually prefer one-day batting. I mean to say that they try to complete their work a day or two before the examinations and this is where they face great difficulties in understanding and retaining large amounts of information. Make it a habit to spend time on your courses each day. I think this is the best way to learn so that you are free from huge burdens at the time of exams. I suggest you to use the time between classes to stay on top of readings.

3. Seek help and improve your grades

Whether you’re a below average student or a student with average grades, you can strengthen your skills. Check out SDS’ Learning Skills Services. Get to know your professors and tutorial assistants. I suggest the best way to improve your skills and grades that seek help from your seniors. This is the best way because they may have experienced the things your are facing and they’ll lead you in a proper way because they have gone through the same problems. If not you can even use study guides and help centres.

4. Write It Down

When your are doing a professional course it should be your habit to use a day planner or wall calendar because time management for every human being is very important. You should have a planning for your coursework. Unfortunately, If you are not doing this I have something to tell you that someday you try to put on paper your entire day’s work schedule. I mean to say that you try to write everything you do from the time you get up till you go to bed at night. Now that you have done this I am sure that you’ll be realizing the useful work and the useless work you do the whole day. If you are true to yourself then you’ll start planning for your future actions. Don’t forget that “Time is Precious.”

5. Get Energized - Eat, Exercise, Sleep

Fatigue and stress weakens memory and comprehension. For this it’s important for us to take care of our own health. We should inculcate the habit of eating properly and even the most important thing is to exercise properly to keep ourselves fit and healthy which energizes us and helps us to concentrate properly on our studies without any stress and health problems.

6. Perform Like a Pro: Go to Class Prepared and Take Thorough Notes

Your main motto should be “Don’t miss the class.”  Someone else’s notes aren’t going to be as good as having gone to the lecture yourself. While taking notes, listen for emphases and examples. Questions after the lecture? Go to your professor’s or tutorial assistant’s office hours. Learn as you go and you won’t find yourself unprepared the night before an exam.

7. Lectures and Textbooks: What’s the BIG Picture?

University learning requires understanding how pieces of information fit together to form a “big picture.” For this you need to be tricky. That means you should be familiar with the data available and you need to organize the information effectively by using your tricks effectively. you’ll have to use course outlines, tables of content, and headings and subheadings to organize information. This will help you a lot.

8. Try to Remember Key Information

It is difficult for any person to remember each and every point in the books they read or the lectures they listen to. So we should inculcate the habit of remembering the key information in a particular topic which helps us to recall the whole part or at least the best of it. In order to achieve this be active! Generate examples, create mnemonics, make summary notes, identify key words, highlight textbooks, or add margin notes. Improve your memory by being creative and interested.

9. Think You’ll Remember Key Points? Prove It.

Think you are a person with good memory capability or a person with a grip on remembering the key points even then the problem arises when it comes to present it. If you over confidently try your luck without practice you may fall head first in spite of your memory power. No matter how well you understand something, without practice there is a chance of forgetting the information. If this occurs during a test then nothing but you will have to regret on not practicing it at least once. Before a test, recall information without looking at notes or textbooks and by doing practice you can win the races without any difficulty.

“TO SWEAT IN PRACTICE IS BETTER THAN TO BLEED IN THE WAR”

10. Be Test Smart

I’ve seen a lot of people losing marks in the examinations in spite of their hard work. This is because of their lack of knowledge on the way of presenting and impressing the examiner. Some people even lose marks due to bad vocabulary and most of them due to the grammatical mistakes they make during the time of presenting or writing the examination. Don’t lose marks because of test-writing errors. Use strategies to tackle different types of tests (e.g., multiple-choice). Read instructions, budget time to marks, and do less difficult questions first to build confidence. And I’m sure that these will definitely give you the best results.
